Client Journey:  Aira Labs

Kevin Tang, Co-Founder & CPO at Aira Labs, got in touch with the need for some models in less than a week. 

Here's how we worked with Kevin to produce high resolution models ready for his big presentation in Dubai, in just 6 days.

The CAD wasn't quite ready for printing, but that's okay. At Kevin's request, we scaled up the model to his dimensions and added key features for model making. 

This included: shelling to a 2mm wall thickness for 3D printing, recesses for magnets, 0.2mm tolerance to allow paint build up and clean assembly. 

Once printed and post processed, we started to remove the build lines and support pips. 

After some filling, sanding and high build priming, the parts were dry fit assembled, proving they are ready for top coat.

Topcoats were applied, this included a 2k lacquer for the high gloss parts. The case lid being lacquered in 2 parts for no witness of being mounted to a stick. 

The CMF of this model was simple, matte black and gloss black.

Magnets were inserted, brass rod added weight and the parts were assembled.

We produced 4 models and 1 case in 6 days; 3 models had different strap styles.

 

Along with the models, we made bespoke Aira Labs presentation mat, all of which fitted neatly into a flight case ready to flying to Dubai.
